This is a subject I have been researching myself recently, and looking into the various treatments (natural, herbal, homeopathic, therapeutic, HRT, traditional and medicinal) routes to help alleviate symptoms.ĭid you know, for example, that many women with undiagnosed ADHD only get their diagnosis during menopause when their symptoms increase to overwhelming proportions HRT still isn’t quite hitting the spot, anxiety has reached astronomical proportions, lack of focus, motivation, brain fog, and feelings of guilt, depression and despair have women desperately reaching out for help, yet, due to the lack of knowledge, they are often prescribed anti depressants, (which if they work, are great) but they are not dealing with the root of the problem and again, taking medication such as AD’s, can worsen the symptoms of the underlying cause for some. If that doesn’t wave red flags and tell you something, I don’t know what will. The suicide rate for women going through peri and menopause is higher than at any other time in their life. Menopause can exasperate a multitude of symptoms to extreme proportions for many women. Menopause is not ‘just’ about a woman’s periods stopping, her fertility ending, a few random chin hairs, maybe a drop in libido, and some dodgy ‘off’ hormonal days. Menopause is nothing to be ashamed or embarrassed about. Sadly the government appear to not support the evidence based facts regarding the very real struggles many women undergo during this period of change and transformation in their lives. ![]() Thank you, Darren Slade, □□ for bringing the very serious, yet mostly ignored subject of menopause to the local news, and how it affects different women in the workplace.
